10/17/98 LOST CAT Medicine Lake Recreation Area, California or surrounding area "Blackie" (full name Blackstone) was lost on August 23, 1998. Blackie is an 8 year old neutered male Domestic Long-hair Cat, color black long hair with white whiskers, a white bib, white feet, and his tail is fluffy black with a 2inch white tip-like a fox. When lost he was wearing a magenta suede harness collar with a red plastic tag displaying our address and phone#. It is a breakaway harness. Blackie has a unique marking - his tailtip is white like a fox. For the last 5 years we have been taking Blackie with us on camping trips. He has always stayed with us, has never objected to the leash or the car ride. On Saturday, August 23rd he pushed open the zipper on our tent in the middle of the night and went exploring. On the rare occasions when he has done this before he has ALWAYS returned by morning. This time he did not. Nor did he return the next night or the following morning. We have been frantically searching for him. It is probable that Blackie hitched a ride as a stowaway in a vehicle. The rangers don't believe him to be there hiding and there aren't any predators, and if he was hurt, they would have found him by now. Everyone involved believes he was *either stolen or a stowaway*. If you have any information that can bring Blackie home to Lila please call (510) 654-7531 or email LostBlackie@yahoo.com. REWARD Pictures available at http://www.h4ha.org/lostfound/usnational.htm

Dulcie the Dalmatian could be anywhere. It is believed she was stolen from her front yard in 1997. Her loving owner, Lisa works tirelessly to get her back. She works equally tirelessly for the benefit of others who have suffered the loss of a stolen pet. She says of losing a pet through theft...

All the pet grief sites deal with pet loss through death, not disappearance. I am trying to change that. We are an overlooked group of people who need to know that we are not alone. Our friends and family all too often expect us to just forget about our missing pets and to get on with our lives. We have no where to turn, no one to understand except for others who are also going through this.

To this end, Lisa started an email list called Pet Theft Support. It is a source of support and counseling for pet owner's whose pets have been stolen. You can learn more about it and sign up for the list at Lisa's Lost and Stolen Pet information page.
